Toomer 's Corner - The Rant

I have never been a college football fan. Being a former Band-ee, I attended enough college football games for a life time. My closest friends who despise sports patiently put up with my chatter about the sports I do like: Hockey, La Mans, Petit La Mans, Formula One, Indy Car, Baseball, NFL, Soccer and the X Games.

However, if I ever needed a reason to dislike college football, I official have found it. The no account redneck, immature, douche bag that killed the trees on Toomer’s Corner is my reason. I know lots of Auburn fans and lots of Alabama fans. Most of them are members of my family. So I know that not all AU and AL fans are douche bags. The old axiom that one bad apple will spoil the whole bunch is true. And it sucks.

We need all the tree’s we can get on this planet. Global warming, ozone, smog and haze are all cleaned by trees. Oxygen made by trees. Paint their rock or steal their flag. What nimrod kills old growth trees? Oh 62 year old Al from Dadeville.

To top off that feat of superior brain power other fans have come up with really cleaver immature things to say about Auburn and their trees. Really? Are we adults? Maybe. Mature? Fare from it. Soon some else will be trying to take out Uga from atop of the UGA clock tower. Give me a freaking break!

People, love your school. Alumni Support your Schools. Bleed Blue and Orange or Red and Black or Red and Grey. But do it like you have a brain. Wear stupid hats. Paint your face, dance in the isle, yell at the band. Roll a tree. Oh wait….you can’t.

Thanks Al in Dadeville. May you rot in jail for killing two trees.

Make A Wish Two Page

My next Quick and Easy class at the shoppe.  It is not on the calendar, yet.  The paper is Kay and Company and I used broken china, spiced marmalade and starry night stickles.  Making the candles will be part of the class.  I will post a second tutorial for making the candles.

Store Display

Allyson and I were challanged by our new marketing director to throw a sample display together for Valentines Day in one of our stores. Historically we have not made "drug store type" displays for short term promotion but I have a feeling that is going to change. It took 3 hours, which included going to the store, setting the display, writing on the A-Frame sign and helping customers in between.

Here is what we came up with. This was approved and was sent out company wide for the other stores to use as a guide.

Deadly Cat Pee

We have a new kitty. Her name is Chloe. Well to go along with all the fun of a young cat, we have all the NOT SO fun of older cats being upset about the new addition.

One of our cats, Cougar, who is the male and Beta Cat is very upset. Upset to the point that he is afraid to go to the litter box. Well we tried to help him but, we were not sure what to do. While we were trying to figure that out, Cougar decided to let us know just how mad he was about Chloe. He peed on my clothes and on Dave's side of the bed. Then in Sam's (the other cats) favorite bed.

After talking to a friend from Paws Humane we moved a litter box into the Living Room in a corner. We did not want to do that but it was either that or have Cougar pee every where.

I took to the internet to find a way to clean cat pee. If you don't know, cat pee is very hard to get out of anything. The smell is strong. Well I found a site that suggested I used apple cider vinegar.

I am glad to say it worked. I washed all the bedding and clothes in the washer adding in 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar to each load. I did a 3 to 1 mix in a squirt bottle and cleaned all the spots (including several spots I see Cougar sniffing a lot). So far no repeat peeing.

My friend at Paws Humane also suggested that we keep all the cats out of our bedroom until we are sure the situation is resolved. That has gone well. Sam is the cat that is most used to sleeping with us and she will come in the room and stay most of the night. I was kinda bummed about having to keep the door closed but it has been wonderful for my sleep patterns.

So..Here is hoping this cat newness gets resolved soon. Perhaps Cougar might man up. He has got a good 10 pounds on Chloe.

Altered Project - Scrabble Tile

My latest offering and my first altered project. The inspiration came from my friend Bev who saw these and challenged me to find a way to make them into a class. I am always up for a good challenge. Scrabble tiles are small. Not quite 2 cm square to be exact.

In my class you will be making two scrabble tile necklaces and 4 scrabble tile embellishments. You will also get your very own bottle of Glossy Accents to take home. Everything will be provided. Tiles, paper, punches, and mod podge. If you want to bring some pictures or a certain kind of paper you can.

The class is on the calendar for Feb. 4, 2011. The cost is $17 and there are 10 spots. Call the Shoppe at 706*321*0202 to reserve your spot.
